SCBWN Annual Golf Day.... and the winners are....
The highly anticipated 2011 SCBWN Annual Golf Day was held at Peregian Springs Golf Club on Friday October 7. In spite of the forecasts, the weather turned on perfect conditions, and the day was opened by John Williamson from Southern Cross 10, with an early BBQ breakfast and a special guest appearance from “The Green Dragon” from St George. With over 80 women in attendance competing in an 18 hole competition or participating in the “novices” Clinic, an early 8am tee off soon provided a variety of entertainment as competitors faced minor “challenges” throughout the 18 hole course thanks to our hole sponsors! A very successful day was once again enjoyed by all, followed by a typical Peregian Springs style gourmet BBQ lunch, an entertaining sponsors “Lob for Loot”, an enjoyable AUCTION, a long list of raffles and prize presentations.

When will you be audited by the ATO?
By Melanie Jacobson
The ATO has received additional funding (several hundred million dollars) to undertake more audits this year. Businesses are always under the ATO’s spotlight, especially with their Small Business Benchmarks system. The ATO says “small business Benchmarks are designed to help businesses meet their tax obligations by enabling them to compare their performance against similar businesses.”
Does Sponsorship really work?
By Carlee Driscoll
Any of us would have to be living under a rock to not see the impact of big budget sponsorship in the world of sport, entertainment, charity and business. The recent Rugby World Cup was green with Heineken, this year’s NRL final was the perfect opportunity to launch Telstra’s new look, Melbourne Cup is all about Myer fashion and Polo in the City is more about pearls than ponies thanks to Paspaley....
Being a small business owner can be a lonely profession, but having the amazing women of the SCBWN behind you, opens up endless opportunities for advice, friendship and mentoring. By being a member, I have felt more part of my business community and winning Small Business Woman of the Year was a surprising added bonus.
