SCBWN July Breakfast

Living a Meaningful Life - The Power of Purpose
Tuesday, 13th July 2021 | 6:45am - 8:30am
The Lakehouse Sunshine Coast

Join the Sunshine Coast Business Women's Network on Tuesday, 13th July for a delicious breakfast at The Lakehouse Sunshine Coast from 6:45am to hear from our guest speakers. This month’s theme is all about the Power of Purpose and how this impacts on living a meaningful life. Each of our speakers have a strong connection in giving back to their community and will be sharing their own insights into how this has helped them to find their own purpose.

You will hear from:

PAUL MERGARD - CEO - DESTINY RESCUE AUSTRALIA

For two decades Paul has fought for the rights of children who are trapped in the most horrific situations both in Australia and overseas. He has seen first- hand the impact human trafficking has on the lives of children and the exhilaration and sheer relief experienced by victims when they are freed. Trained as an accountant with KPMG, he has also worked in two of Australia’s largest charities, The Salvation Army and Compassion.

Paul joined Destiny Rescue as Executive Partnerships Manager in 2019, before taking the CEO role in April 2021. Paul has a Grad Dip in International Development and has spent many years in the developing world working with people who live in extreme poverty or have been sold into slavery.

KATHLEEN HOPE – GENERAL MANAGER - SUNNYKIDS

Working at the coal face of Domestic and Family Violence for almost a decade, with formal education in community services and psychology, Kathleen leads a well-established dedicated team of professionals in one of the Sunshine Coasts leading charities.

Social change is not an idea but a commitment. Effecting change to interrupt violence and repair historical trauma is possible and Kathleen believes that every day she is able to work in this space is a privilege.

She is driven to support others to recognise their power for change and worth; to break the cycle of violence.

KIM EDWARDS – EXECUTIVE LEADER

An outstanding team leader, gifted communicator, and award-winning businesswoman. Kim began her career in 1980 working in community development programs in the Middle East and Asia. In 1993, she began teaching English and has travelled extensively, championing the cause for positive social change through education. She has trained thousands of teachers and published several books.

Kim has more than 40 years’ experience working internationally and is a sought-after conference speaker on business strategies, communication and culture.

Whether you’re looking to develop your personal or business direction, gain a different perspective or dig deeper on your own purpose, this will be a perfect morning for reflection and create connection.
